About Kate
Certified Hypnotherapist & Mind+Body Coach
For as long as I can remember I've always been curious and captivated by the power of the mind and human behaiour. I was never really interested in reading the books my friends had, instead, my source of reading came from my Dads library of books on psychology, mindset and personal development.
I've had my ups and downs in life like the death of my Mum as a child, health issues, infertility, recurrent miscarriage, and the highs and lows of marriage and motherhood. What helped me through these experiences was my ability to look beyond my challenges and find an inner strength, resilience and by adopting a healthy mindset. I'll always be grateful for the books I found and the wisdom they instilled within me.

I've always enjoyed supporting those around me and my love for being of service to others which led me to complete my training in Hypnotherapy, Life Coaching, Neuro-Linguistics, Matrix Therapies, Time-Line Therapy, HypnoFertility, Hypnobirthing and Strategic Psychotherapy.

It is my greatest honor to provide a nurturing safe space for my clients to find themselves, their inner wisdom and their power to overcome any challenge and achieve their goals.

Why Choose Hypnotherapy
Our challenge as humans in a modern day world is that our unconscious mind can't tell the difference between what is a real threat to physical survival and what is a threat to ego, identity or comfort zone. The unconscious is where all our memories, beliefs, behaviours, values and inbuilt judgements and rules about possibilities and impossibilities lie.

So whilst we consciously understand what and why we are wanting to achieve something, our unconscious can often keep us stuck in resistance. For example, for someone who is wanting to loose weight, food might be a way they experience a relief from stress, they may hold negative beliefs around exercise and healthy eating or their ability to achieve a health goal if all past attempts have failed. It could be a fear of success and the attention they may gain from looking different. So when they are faced with familiar but unhealthy foods, they cave easily due to a lack of belief, the need for relief or fear. They get distracted from the goal and succumb to old patterns. They focus on what they are missing out on or loosing rather than focusing on the benefits of the goal and what it will positively bring them in return.

So in essence, if you are struggling to achieve something you desire, the key is in creating alignment between the goal, thoughts and behaviour, which is where Hypnotherapy comes in.

When it comes to hypnosis, there are many myths and misconceptions (thanks to movies and stage show hypnosis), however in reality is a powerful healing modality that feels very relaxing, natural and normal and leverages the power of the unconscious mind to create alignment and dynamic, long lasting sustainable change.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a technique that can be used conversationally and/or during 'trance' state. Effectively hypnotherapy is an education and communication process between the conscious and the unconscious mind to learn and adopt new awareness, logic, strategies and skills to achieve a therapeutic goal. It is a focused concentration on a single thought or idea with the exclusion of all other thought inspired by the power of suggestion which then drive motivation toward transformational change toward the chosen goal.

It's also important to note that no one can be forced into hypnosis, it's a choice - all hypnosis is self-hypnosis.
Is Hypnotherapy Safe?
Yes, hypnotherapy is considered a safe, enjoyable and drug-free therapy when conducted by a trained and certified practitioner. During hypnotherapy sessions, clients remain fully aware and in control of their actions, and cannot be made to do anything against their will or moral code (it is nothing like stage hypnosis which is for entertainment purposes).
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Sessions required to achieve the goal varies from person to person and also dependant on the reason for seeking therapy in the first place. Whilst some clients only require 1 session, an average would be 3-4 sessions, with others requiring more sessions for longer term support. During a discovery call or the Initial Appointment, Kate can provide you with an indication of how many sessions may be required.

It's also important to ensure that between sessions, you complete the suggested home tasks and practice self-help strategies and techniques to concrete learnings and imbed change required to succeed.
What Does Hypnosis Feel Like?
The state of 'hypnosis' is a level of consciousness that we all experience daily in our lives. Hypnosis is where we experience a change in our thoughts, feelings and behaviour because of suggestion. Most common examples of this is when we are watching a movie or reading a book and getting engrossed in the story line and characters, when we dream, or when we are being influenced by advertising. People often describe the feeling of hypnosis as a comfortable relaxing state similar to the feeling just before drifting off to sleep. You are still aware of what is happening around you and can talk and move if you want to but you are so comfortably relaxed you don't want to.
Can Anyone be Hypnotised?
While susceptibility to hypnosis can vary from person to person, the majority of individuals can be hypnotised to some degree. Factors such as willingness to participate, ability to focus, and openness to suggestion play significant roles in determining one's responsiveness to hypnosis. Most people can achieve a hypnotic state with the guidance of a skilled hypnotherapist who tailors the approach to individual preferences and needs. It's important to note that regardless, nearly everyone can benefit from hypnotherapy techniques to some extent, whether for relaxation, behavior modification, or therapeutic purposes.
